Treatment of joints and penetrations

We offer penetration caulking products and inter-building joints for fire protection but also to meet sealing (air/water) requirements and any other requests from sensitive industrial plants.

Background

Wall penetrations can be traversed by various elements, such as electric cables, pipes or ventilation ducts.
These penetrations must be sealed with materials that maintain the fire resistance, waterproofing and any other protection required, by the operation and safety of the industrial site. Fire areas are also determined by expansion joints, which may represent weak points. These joints, in addition to an expansion function, must also be sealed with materials that maintain the degree of fire resistance, waterproofing and any other protection required by the operation and safety of the industrial site.

Challenges

Penetration caulking can be simple, using a single material (such as rock wool or mortar) or complex, using a combination of different materials.
For the product/solutions in-order to be qualified, they must undergo a multitude of fire-resistant standard tests, either individual or cumulative to meet the different load configurations.
The implementation of product/solutions is an essential aspect for NUVIATech Protection since it determines the key to success in the realisation of a construction or renovation project. This aspect of constructability is therefore considered from the beginning of the design phase; to guarantee installation in a complex environment that complies with certifications.
During the development of their products, NUVIATech Protection pays particular attention to respect the environment and its carbon footprint.

Applicable norms and standards

The fire resistance classifications of our caulking systems and joints are based on the European Standards EN (1366-3/4) and American standards (UL, ASTM).
Our products/solutions also meet the specific standards of our customers (EDF, ITER, CEA, NAVAL GROUP), not only in terms of fire safety but also in terms of waterproofing, displacement and any other requirements from sensitive industrial plants.

APPLICATIONS

Electrical penetrations

The caulking of electrical penetrations contributes to the compartmentalisation in a building. Caulking systems can also respond to other problems, such as sealing, and of ionizing radiation rays.

Mechanical penetrations

The caulking of electrical penetrations contributes to the compartmentalisation in a building. Caulking systems can also respond to other problems, such as sealing, and of ionizing radiation rays.

Caulking of joints

Expansion or construction joints are the fractional spaces essential to the life of a building. They allow and anticipate temperature variations and soil movements to avoid settling and cracking in the structure. Expansion joints can be eminent in construction joints when a greater elasticity is expected from the structure.
