Flood

The protection of buildings and installations against flooding, and liquid -tightness in general have become major challenges for the safety of people and property.

REGULATIONS

Unlike fire protection, which is extremely well regulated, there is no general test standard for qualifying the performance of sealing systems.

Flooding and its impact on the environment raise a changing safety issue depending on each site, its location, and its operating conditions. Our teams can identify and reassess the specific risk factors on your installation, and provide it with passive protection systems adapted to its requirements to guarantee its waterproofing and integrity.

PASSIVE PROTECTION AGAINST THE RISK OF FLOODING

For penetration caulking, leakage tests are carried out on test hoppers, which are then passed through a furnace for testing, to ensure that fire resistance is maintained after flooding. The dimensions are therefore standardised, generally 800 x 1,200 mm. Tests are carried out on different configurations: mechanical, electrical, or other feedthroughs, and without feedthroughs.

The test hopper is then placed under a bell allowing the necessary water depth to be applied. The test is carried out in increments of 24-hours. The sealing is then validated by the highest level from which no leakage was observed during these 24 hours.

Resistance to aggressive liquids (e.g., hydrocarbons) is tested by specific tests.

NUVIATech Protection has an extensive waterproofing database and also has the capacity to carry out specific tests, whether for special configurations or high water levels.
